Festivals Around the Metropolis of Denver

Festivals have long been a tradition in most cultures, especially in the Mediterranean lands, and the Orthodox immigrants to America brought the traditions of their village festivals with them to America.

Festivals have traditionally been centered on religious celebrations, in which filoxenia, or hospitality, has always been extended to everyone present. In America festivals centered around church life, and the surrounding community was welcomed.

Festivals provide opportunities for parishioners to work together, side by side, for the good of the parish and to the glory of God. Festivals also provide an outstanding opportunity to expose and explain our holy, catholic, and Apostolic Orthodox faith to the wider community.

Festivals also provide the opportunity to share local ethnic traditions and culture from the immigrant backgrounds of parishioners. They have also become an annual fundraising event to benefit building and capital improvement programs.

Everyone is encouraged and invited to participate in parish festivals, which are opportunities for fellowship, fun, and sharing.

Information has been received from the following parishes in the Metropolis of Denver concerning their forthcoming festivals:
