The Pious Pastors, and The Esteemed Parish Councils of the Holy Metropolis of Denver
Beloved in the Lord,
Christ is Risen!
I am pleased to communicate with you at this time, to inform you of a major initiative introduced by the lay members of the Diocese Council, and unanimously accepted by the clergy and lay delegates of our recently-held Clergy-Laity Assembly, May 16 and 17, 2003.
As you are all aware, the diocesan office has not received funding for its ongoing operations and ministries; only the salaries of our personnel have been paid by the Archdiocese.
In response to the protracted funding shortfall, and the lack of any
apparent near-term resolution to this crisis, your Diocese Council has
instituted a program whereby individuals and parishes can support your
diocesan office. The program is called Metropolis of Denver
Advocates 1000,
and participants agree to contribute $1,000 per
annum on a continuing, annual basis.
The funds of Advocates 1000
will be disbursed to the
Metropolis on an as-needed basis for office expenses, by the clergy and
laity members of the board of trustees.
I am therefore encouraging wide dissemination of this information to all your parishioners, and invite them to become sustaining members of your Metropolis.
In addition, I am asking you, the pastors and parish council members,
to consider signing up as participants in the Advocates 1000
program. Your annual $1,000 contribution only requires $85 of your
monthly budget, but this seemingly small amount will greatly aid and
facilitate the operations of the Metropolis.
Please note, that the Advocates 1000
program is intended to
sustain ongoing operations of the Metropolis. We still need pledges and
contributions to pay off your Diocese Center which was completed last
November, and which many of the faithful in this Metropolis have
visited.
I invite all of you to visit us and the Center whenever you have an opportunity to travel to Denver. You will be encouraged and inspired by the Center itself and by my staff who work to serve you and your parish.
With Paternal Blessings,
Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver
