The Pious Priests, Deacons, and The Esteemed Parish Councils of The Metropolis of Denver

Beloved in Christ our Lord,

On June 21, 1999 I sent a protocol letter, numbered 99-19, to all the priests of the diocese regarding the responsibility of all the parishes to participate in the Diocese Building Fund. The letter was addressed only to the priests, with the anticipation that they would inform the members of the councils. The fact that thirty-eight of the forty-eight parishes responded with various amounts which were addressed to the building fund is evidence that the council members were informed.

However, it appears that the suggested quotas which were given to the priests according to the size of the parishes probably were not transmitted clearly to the councils. As of today, only three parishes have responded to the suggested quotas: Saints Constantine and Helen in Cheyenne, Wyoming with $100,000; Saint Sophia in San Antonio with $50,000; and Holy Trinity in Casper, Wyoming with $25,000 which was $5,000 over quota.

The parishes which are showing good progress with the suggested quotas are: Grand Junction, Colorado; Shreveport, Louisiana; Kansas City, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dallas, Texas; and Ogden, Utah.

Allow me, once again, to list the parishes according to their size and the suggested quota which each should consider. If you feel that the quota is too high, please write to me and inform me which level you wish to respond to within the next three to five years. Here are the suggested quotas as listed in my letter of June 1999:

As I have mentioned, if any of these quotas appear to be impractical to fulfill in a three to five year period, please inform me what amount your parish can afford. We need your figures so that we can determine the potential of your gifts. This information is important to the bank which will transform our line of credit into a mortgage.

Please respond as soon as you can.

With Paternal Blessings,

Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver
